About Us

About us

Forth Pilgrim Ltd is a social enterprise company, founded on an interest in Pilgrim routes in Scotland and beyond.  However, we are much more than just a heritage group.  We aim to re-introduce people of all ages, especially the young, to the wellbeing benefits of being out in the countryside amongst nature.

We get people outdoors and active, in body and imagination, especially young people who tend to spend less time outdoors than in the past. We offer multi-layered outdoor activities, therapeutic walking, woodland learning, historical drama and spiritual-reflections with faith groups.

Forth Pilgrim has been instrumental in helping schools to explore, engage and learn in green outdoor spaces, combined with the built heritage.

Our roots are in pilgrim heritage but we’ve evolved to offer much more diverse ‘Green Space’ health and wellbeing activities across four themes:

  • Outdoor Wellbeing
  • History Walking
  • Forest School
  • Pligrimage

Across these themes, you can enjoy a variety of activity, including;

  • Therapeutic walking
  • Woodland learning
  • Historical drama
  • Self-reflection
  • Heritage events.

The benefits of out activities are wide ranging, from improvements in physical health and wellbeing – through walking and being in the environment – to community cohesion – through groups of individuals bonding on our events – and interactive learning about local heritage.

Though we are rooted in heritage, particularly in revealing and understanding about Scottish Pilgrim heritage, our outcomes are related to Education & Learning, Employment & Training, Community Cohesion, Environment and Health & Wellbeing.

We work as outdoor education providers, engaging with schools, contracting to Historic Environment Scotland Learning Services and Forestry and Land Scotland.
